The Body category in a subsystem or part has auxiliary features to create a simple geometry, create a region, execute a Boolean operation, split a face and generate a mesh. The Mesh category in a mesh has features to create a Nodeset, Patchset, Edgeset, and import a Finite Element input file. These features are introduced in the corresponding chapters below. Simple geometries for a rigid body are supported to represent a rigid body in the subsystem or part as shown in the following table.
Figure 3.9: Simple geometries for a rigid body
Feature | Description |
Cylinder Creation and Properties | Use to create a cylindrical geometry using two points and a radius. |
Sphere Creation and Properties | Use to create a spherical geometry using one point and a radius. |
Tri-Plate Creation and Properties | Use to create a triangular plate geometry using three points and thickness. |
Block Creation and Properties | Use to create a box geometry using one point, width, height, and depth. |
Region entities for Rigid or EasyFlex bodies are supported to represent a contact surface, glued face, contact curve or sliding curve against another body in the subsystem or part as shown in the following table.
Figure 3.10: Region entities for Rigid or nodal EasyFlex bodies
Feature | Description |
Faceset (Single) Creation | Use to create a Faceset from faces on one body. |
Color Faceset (Single) | Use to create a Faceset with a color. |
Extract Faceset (Pair) | Use to create Facesets from surfaces on two bodies. |
Range Creation | Use to create a range region using one point and the normal direction on one body. |
Curveset Creation | Use to create a Curveset from edges on one body. |
Color Curveset | Use to create a Curveset with a color. |
Boolean operators are supported for a solid body to join, subtract and intersect the solid bodies in the subsystem or part as shown in the following table.
Figure 3.11: Boolean operators for a Solid body
Feature | Description |
Unite Operator | Use to join multiple solid bodies into one solid body. |
Subtract Operator | Use to subtract one solid body from another. |
Intersect Operator | Use to generate the intersection of two solid bodies. |
Face splitters are supported for Rigid and EasyFlex bodies to create a regional face on a surface of the solid bodies in the subsystem or part as shown in the following table.
Figure 3.12: Face splitters for Rigid and nodal EasyFlex bodies
Feature | Description |
Imprint Operator | Use to divide a face using a shared region of two solid bodies or surfaces. |
Circle Plane Operator | Use to divide a face using a circular plane. |
Rectangle Plane Operator | Use to divide a face using a rectangular plane. |
Additional auxiliary features for a rigid body are supported in the Body category as follows.
Figure 3.13: Auxiliary features in the body category
Feature | Description |
Marker | Use to create a coordinate system to measure kinematic properties such as position, velocity and acceleration. This entity is available for Rigid and nodal FE bodies. If a Marker is created on a modal FE body or EasyFlex body, the Motion Solver may experience simulation problems. This entity can be accessed from the Body category in the subsystem and from the Marker category in a part or mesh, respectively. |
Mesh Generation | Used to generate | finite elements for the specified solid geometry in the subsystem or part.
Change Face Color | Use to set the face color of a geometry. |
Change Edge Color | Use to set the edge color of a geometry. |
Sheet Thicken | Use to define the thickness of sheet geometry. |
Additional auxiliary features for nodal FE bodies are supported in the Mesh category as follows.
