Most users will prefer using the DED Process Wizard because it simplifies your workflow considerably. The wizard populates objects, options, and defaults for you in the Mechanical application's project tree. This chapter describes the steps required if you prefer to use your own workflow to set up a DED simulation in the project tree.
A DED process simulation involves most of the general steps found in any Ansys analysis with some additional steps and considerations as described in the following steps:
- 5.1. Create the Analysis System
- 5.2. Attach Geometry and Launch Mechanical
- 5.3. Identify Geometries
- 5.4. Assign Materials
- 5.5. Apply Mesh Controls and Generate Mesh
- 5.6. Define Build Settings
- 5.7. Perform Element Clustering
- 5.8. Define Connections
- 5.9. Define DED Process Steps
- 5.10. Establish Thermal Analysis Settings
- 5.11. Apply Thermal Boundary Conditions
- 5.12. Solve the Transient Thermal Analysis
- 5.13. Establish Structural Analysis Settings
- 5.14. Apply Structural Boundary Conditions
- 5.15. Solve the Static Structural Analysis
- 5.16. Review Results
