5.9. Define DED Process Steps

A DED process simulation consists of the build process and a cooldown process. The duration of the build process depends on G-Code data or user defined named selections for the definition of the weld track, and hence input parameters such as material deposition rate cannot be set by the user. The duration of the cooldown process can be defined as a parameter.

After cooldown, the build parts can be removed from the base plate. In this case, removal constraint nodes need to be defined. See Apply Structural Boundary Conditions.
