By default, the main application contains three main views:
Model Browser: This is the central entry point to create or access projects and their content. You can access all project content editors from the Model Browser, by using either the context menu or the top button bar.
Server Browser: The Server Browser gives you an overview of your project servers. When you want to work collaboratively, you can load projects from the server into the Model Browser or share projects from the Model Browser to the server.
Property View: This view provides you with context-sensitive information about selected elements. When you select an object in the Model Browser or editors, the property view shows detailed information about the object.
You can open editors, such as 4, by double-clicking the item in your project. To open additional views, such as 5 click > . For more information, see Enabling Additional Views.

Ansys medini analyze's main toolbar provides quick links to the key functions of medini analyze, as described in the table below. Note that the toolbar updates depending on the currently active editor. Certain actions may be enabled or disabled.

The Model Browser is the main view from where you access and manage your projects. Each project is structured into a number of predefined folders, with each folder serving a special task or group of tasks in the functional safety analysis and design. The initial folder structure depends on the safety domain profile and whether a project template has been used. You can create additional subfolders for each predefined folder, as well as for user-created folders. For more details, see Project Structure and Safety Domain Profiles.
When you select a model or object inside a project, the property view provides details about the selected object. It is a context-sensitive view that changes depending on the object type you selected.
From the Model Browser, all editors for model elements can be opened by double-clicking or via the context menu. Editors appear in the "Editor and View Area" (gray area after startup), but they can be freely arranged. Different editors exist for the various types of models and elements, such as form editors, table/worksheet editors, and graphical editors.
After you make changes in an editor, the button is enabled. To save your changes, click the button. The project is saved locally in the workspace. Note that you can undo and redo after saving the data. Each project provides a linear history of modifications that is kept until a project is closed or the tool is restarted.
Note: You can import and export projects in medini analyze. For more information, see Import and Export of Projects and Data.
In addition to the default views, there are views such as an Error Log View, Problems View, or Operational Situations Catalogs View. These views can be closed, or are not shown by default.
To open an additional view, complete these steps.
From the main menu, select Window > Show View > Other.
In the resulting dialog, select the view you want and click .
Views are organized in folders. To choose a view, open a folder. The selected view is displayed in the tool. You can freely position and resize it to your convenience. You can always close any view in medini analyze and reopen it again as described above. Note that closing a view does not delete the data shown in that view. When you reopen the view, it shows the same information as it did before closing.

Views that may be useful in supporting your work are listed in the table below.

Ansys medini analyze uses the Eclipse concept of perspectives.
Ansys medini analyze defines its own default "analyze" perspective. In addition, the tool includes a set of perspectives:
Compare/Merge perspective for the difference analysis and model merge
Planning perspective for task management,
Cybersecurity perspective for cybersecurity focused analysis,
Safety perspective (filters out cybersecurity related UI)
Activate perspectives by navigating to >
, or by clicking the Open Perspective icon
on the right above the workspace (
).
To reset to a perspective's default settings, above the workspace, right-click the icon for that perspective and select .
To close a perspective, right-click the icon for that perspective and select .
In Ansys medini analyze you can set a number of preferences. Most of the preferences influence the behavior as well as the look and feel of the different editors in medini analyze.
Note that preferences are specific to the local instance of the tool and for all projects opened in this tool. When the same project is opened with another instance of the tool (for example, by another user), that tool's preferences are applied. In addition to these tool-specific preferences, there are also project settings which are stored with a project and are only valid in the context of that project. For more information, see Project Settings.
To modify tool-specific preferences, select > . Preference categories are listed at the left side of the window. For categories that have a ">" symbol in front of the category name, you can click the symbol to expand the subcategories.
Some of the available settings are for color schemes, appearance of elements, or specific behavior of editors.

The following categories can be especially useful:
