This example problem demonstrates the capabilities and advantages of a 2-D to 3-D analysis for problems that require mapping the 2-D model solution to a corresponding extruded 3-D body so that the solution can continue based on the 3-D model. The analysis is performed using the Ansys Mechanical Application. To see this example solved using Ansys Mechanical APDL see Threaded Connection Analysis in the Technology Showcase: Example Problems.
The following features and capabilities are highlighted:
Mapping solution variables from the 2-D mesh to the new 3-D mesh and rebalancing the results (MAP2DTO3D).
Continuing the analysis on the 3-D model via a multiframe restart.
