Editing the Mesh

After the blocking topology and mesh are created, you can inspect the mesh and blocking, and use the editing tools to adjust the mesh and blocking to improve the quality, mesh distribution, structure and/or connectivity of the mesh.

To select... Do this...
Bodies

Triple-click the body in the design window.

Click the body name in the Structure tree.

Hold Ctrl to select multiple bodies.

Faces

Click the face.

Double-click to select a group of connected faces.

Hold Ctrl to select multiple faces.

Edges

Click the edge.

Double-click to select a loop of edges. If the selected edge is in more than one loop, repeated double-click will step through the possible loops.

Hold Ctrl to select multiple edges.

The entire model Press Ctrl + A.
Objects based on search criteria
  1. In the Structure panel, click Selection.
  2. Select an object in the design window. The Selection panel offers a list of related objects as search criteria.
  3. Select a search criterion from the drop-down list. Objects that meet the selected criterion will be highlighted in the design window.
Note: When Ghost blocked geometry is enabled, smart selection allows for easier selection of block entities for setting up mesh controls and block editing operations when the mesh has been generated.
Tip: With Blocking there can be several objects displayed. You may prefer to turn off Smart Selection and limit the Selection Filter to the object type you wish to pick. See Status Bar.

A quick measurement is also displayed in the status bar when you select a single block object or a pair of block objects. This measurement is displayed using the units and precision set in Units options for the current document.

To view: Select:
Block edge length A blocking edge
Position (X, Y, Z coordinates from the world origin) of a block vertex A block vertex
Distance between two parallel block edges A pair of parallel block edges
Angle between two block edges Two non-parallel block edges
Distance between two block vertices Two block vertices
