Meshing Assemblies

SpaceClaim supports assemblies of design components created in SpaceClaim or another application. You can also insert another design created in SpaceClaim or another application as a component of your design. The design is inserted as an external component, linked to the external file.

For assemblies of components where the mesh need not be conformal between the components (no Shared Topology), you can generate and edit the mesh for an external document in the current assembly. Any mesh change to the component file is reflected both in the component file and also in the assembly. Components in the Assembly can also be replaced with already meshed components. You can choose to mesh at the primary assembly level or mesh individual components.

To mesh external documents at the primary assembly level, ensure that the Load model in background option is disabled in the general file options. Select the components to mesh and set the meshing options as appropriate. When all settings are satisfactory, click Complete .

Alternatively, open each part as a separate component, generate the mesh, and then close the part. To mesh individual components:

  • Right-click a component and select Open Component to open the selected component in a new design window.

  • On the ribbon, click Add/Edit . Select the objects to mesh and set the meshing options as appropriate.

  • When all settings are satisfactory, click Complete .

  • Save the modified component and close the design window. Return to the assembly model.

The Blocking is saved to the External model.
