Explore

You can use MI Explore to find and work with the data in your Granta MI system.

Choosing a data view
Data views define which database, record properties, and application features are visible in MI Explore, providing you with a focused view of relevant data.
Searching
Find records that meet specified criteria by entering keywords, setting the required property values, and specifying the folders or records to search.
Viewing search results
The List page provides a view of your search results that can be quickly scanned and sorted, allowing you to view and compare key properties of the records returned by your search.
Viewing image search results
The Thumbnails page shows search results as a grid of thumbnail images.
Creating scatter plots
On the Scatter plot page, you can examine relationships between two numeric variables in the records in your search results.
Plotting curve data
Go to the Curves page to plot functional data curves from records in your search results.
Creating radar plots
Compare different materials from your search results based on the values of multiple properties.
Viewing datasheets
Open a record datasheet to view all of the material property data.
Adding records to Favorites lists
You can add records from your search results to a Favorites list, for example, materials that you work with frequently, or records used in a particular project, or with a particular set of properties.
Creating records
New records can be added to your database if you have the correct permissions to do so.
Comparing records
The Compare Records feature allows you to view datasheets for up to 10 different records side by side, for easy comparison.
Editing data
If you have the correct permissions, you can edit data in MI Explore.
Exporting material cards
You can export material card information for use in CAD, CAE, or PLM applications from MI Explore.
Exporting data to Excel
You can export data to an Excel workbook, where users with no knowledge of Granta MI, or the structure of the information that must be supplied, can review and update data, or enter new data in Microsoft Excel.
Running reports
Where reports from the MI Reports package are installed in your Granta MI system, you may be able to run reports that analyze different aspects of product design and risk.
Version-controlled data
In version-controlled Tables, the process by which updates to records and data are published is controlled, ensuring that users in your organization have the latest data that is both approved and authorized, while retaining history for traceability purposes.
Link Visualizer
You can use Link Visualizer to view selected records, explore their links to other records in your database, and build up a graphic visualization that shows the relationships between records.
