4.3. Starting and Exiting the Workspace

4.3.1. Starting the Workspace Using the Fluent Launcher

  1. Open the Fluent Launcher. Refer to Starting Ansys Fluent Using Fluent Launcher in the Fluent User's Guide for additional information on opening the Fluent Launcher.

  2. Select an option from the Capability Level drop-down list.

Note:  The Fluent Materials Processing workspace is available at the Enterprise, Premium, and Pro licensing levels. See License-Specific Capabilities for more information.

  3. Select Materials Processing from the list of workspaces.

  4. Click Start to start the workspace.

Alternatively, by selecting from the Read drop-down list, you can also:

    • Select an existing Session file (*.mprcas). These files contain the commands needed to repopulate the workspace with your previous simulation settings.

    • Select a Polyflow or Fluent Mesh file.

Note:  Make sure that the mesh file you select exists in a folder where you have write permissions, otherwise, the Fluent Materials Processing workspace, having already set this folder to be the working folder, will be unable to save files properly as a result.

    • Select a Script file.

    • Select an item in the Recent Files list (after you have used the workspace).

If you use one of these methods, click Start With Selected Options to start the workspace.

As the workspace initializes, the Ansys splash screen shows its progress and displays the workspace once it is ready.

4.3.2. Starting the Workspace Using the Command Line

To start Fluent Materials Processing from the command line, enter the following in a command prompt window:

../fluent/bin/matpro [-prj] | [-R] | [-msh] <file-name> [-g] [-wdir WORKINGDIR] [-N, -gu] [-I] [-license LICENSETYPE]

where

-prj

Use this option when <file-name> is a session file.

-R

Use this option when <file-name> is a journal file.

-msh

Use this option when <file-name> is a Polyflow or Fluent mesh file.

-g

Use this option to run the workspace without graphics and without the graphical user interface. This option is useful if you want to submit a batch job.

-wdir

Use this option to set the session's working directory to that specified by WORKINGDIR.

-N, -gu

Use this option to run the workspace without the graphical user interface.

-I

Use this option to run the workspace interactively, keeping the application open.

-license

Use this option to run the workspace using a license level specified by LICENSETYPE.

Note:  The Fluent Materials Processing workspace is available at the Enterprise, Premium, and Pro licensing levels. See License-Specific Capabilities for more information.

As the workspace initializes, the Ansys splash screen shows its progress and displays the workspace once it is complete.

4.3.3. Exiting the Workspace

You can exit Fluent Materials Processing by selecting Exit in the File ribbon tab or by clicking the   button in the top right corner of the application. For the latter, a Question dialog box will open to confirm if you want to proceed and will then allow you to save the session.

You can exit the workspace without saving your work by selecting Abort in the File menu. You are required to confirm if you want to proceed, and if so, your work will not be saved.
