Sensor Creation

This section gathers all procedures allowing to create a sensor. At least one sensor must be created in an optical system to gather and interpret rays.

Irradiance Sensor
An Irradiance Sensor allows you to compute irradiance (in watt/m²) or illuminance (in Lux).
Radiance Sensor
The Radiance Sensor allows you to compute radiance (in watt/sr/m2) or luminance (in candela/m2).
Intensity Sensor
An Intensity Sensor allows you to compute radiant intensity (in watt/sr) or luminance intensity (in candela).
Human Eye Sensor
The Human Eye Sensor is a physics-based sensor that allows you to accurately simulate human vision by considering the field of view, visual acuity and depth of field (linked to the pupil diameter) of an observer.
Creating a 3D Irradiance Sensor
The 3D Irradiance Sensor allows you to analyze the light contributions for each face of a geometry. Each selected face becomes a sensor and computes irradiance (in Watt/m²) or illuminance (in Lux).
Creating an Immersive Sensor
This page shows how to create an Immersive Sensor to visualize what is viewed from a specific point of view of a scene. An immersive sensor allows you to generate an .speos360 file that can be visualized in Virtual Reality Lab.
Creating a 3D Energy Density Sensor
This page shows how to create a 3D Energy Density Sensor. This sensor allows you to compute the absorbed energy density in Lumen/m³ or Watt/m³ which can be useful when working with highly diffusive materials, wanting to track some hot spots or wanting to visualize the rays' distribution inside the volume itself.
Creating an Observer Sensor
Creating an observer sensor allows you to create a specific view point from where you can observe the system. This sensor is useful to visualize the optical system from user defined points of view.
Light Field Sensor
The Light Field Sensor measures the distribution of light hitting a surface and generates a Light Field file storing this light distribution.
LiDAR Sensor
LIDAR is a remote sensing technology using light to measure the distance to a target. The LiDAR sensor allows you to model static, scanning or rotating LiDAR systems to conduct detection tests or field of views studies.
Camera Sensor
The Camera Sensor allows you to simulate rays integration as in a real camera according to the camera parameters set.
