Basic file operations are supported as follows.

| Operation | Description |
| Creation | Create a new file in the specified location. For more information about the Create operation, see New File. |
| Add | Add a file to a Model. When the file is added in the Work Navigator, the actual file is not copied to the Model folder. For more information about the Add operation, see Work Navigator. |
| Deletion | Remove an existing file from a Model in the Work Navigator. When the file is removed from the Model, the actual file is not deleted. If you want to remove the file, you must delete it in Windows Explorer. For more information about the Delete operation, see Work Navigator. |
| Open | Open an existing file. For more information about the Open operation, see the File Menu and Quick Access Toolbar. |
| Save | Save a File. For more information about the Save operation, see the File Menu and Quick Access Toolbar. |
| Close | Close a File. For more information about the Close operation, see the File Menu. |
