The elastohydrodynamic (EHD) lubrication mechanism is widely used in high-speed and high-load environments such as automotive and marine engine big-end bearings and hdd spindle motor bearings.
An EHD bearing generates forces between two bodies separated by lubrication oil. The EHD bearing solver uses Reynolds theory. EHD bearing force is calculated by the film thickness between the two body surfaces. Thus, the surface of a body, such as a Faceset for a rigid body or Nodeset for a flexible body must be specified to create the EHD bearing. EHD bearings support only the cylindrical journal bearing type. Creating an EHD Bearing internally creates a user-subroutine with a DLL name of dfbearing.dll and function name of dfehdbrg.
