The Conversion feature is a tool that can be used to convert bodies of type Workbench to bodies of type DesignModeler. Bodies must be converted to type DesignModeler if they are to be modified by DesignModeler features. The Conversion feature is typically utilized to resolve errors that may occur during this conversion. For more information on these principles, see DesignModeler Geometry Representations. The Conversion feature supports taking selected bodies as input or converting all bodies in the model.
Additionally, the Conversion feature supports the following properties which are the identical to those available in the Import External Geometry File and Attach to Active CAD Geometry features:
Simplify Geometry: If Yes, surfaces and curves of the model will be simplified into analytic geometry where possible. Default is No.
Heal Bodies: Attempts to heal geometry before converting geometry to DesignModeler format. Default is Yes.
Clean Bodies: Attempts to heal geometry for solid and surface bodies after performing conversion to DesignModeler format. Line bodies are ignored by the Clean Bodies option. Default is Yes.
When converting a body from the Workbench type to DesignModeler type, the DesignModeler application tries to create an exact replica of the original body. When conversion does not fully succeed, as much of the original body will be recovered as possible in DesignModeler format. Modeling features can then be applied to reconstruct the remainder of the geometry to get the exact replica of the Workbench type body in the DesignModeler geometry form.
