Introduction
This tutorial shows you how to set up a multi-node cluster in which jobs are scheduled and managed by the Ansys RSM Cluster (ARC) queueing system instead of a third-party job scheduler.
Once the cluster has been established and configured, instructions are provided on integrating RSM with the new cluster so that users can submit solve jobs to the cluster via RSM. This includes using the RSM Configuration application to generate an ARC configuration file.
Note: Many of the steps in this tutorial are intended for multi-node ARC setups, and are not required if you are configuring a single-node ARC (which is more simple). For information about single-node ARC configuration, see Overview of an Ansys RSM Cluster (ARC) Configuration in the Remote Solve Manager User's Guide.
Prerequisites for ARC Configuration
Before proceeding with ARC configuration, ensure that:
All cluster nodes are running on the same platform (Windows or Linux).
You are able to access and perform administrative tasks on each cluster node.
This tutorial is divided into the following sections:
- 1. Planning the Cluster
- 2. Installing Ansys Products and RSM Services in an Ansys RSM Cluster (ARC)
- 3. Creating an rsmadmins Group (Linux only)
- 4. Adding Common Environment Variables for an ARC on Linux
- 5. Configuring ARC Nodes and Queues
- 6. Creating an ARC Configuration in RSM
- 7. Sharing the ARC Configuration with Users
- 8. ARC Troubleshooting
