Automatically Generated Contacts

Discovery automatically detects and defines bonded contacts when you set a Structural simulation. These bonded contacts can be reviewed by selecting the Bonded Contacts (default) review tool from the physics tree. You can view and filter contacts then convert the contact or contact group to sliding or specify the contact behavior. You can also:

convert the contact or contact group to a joint or a permanently bonded contact
exclude the contact or contact group from contact detection
revert converted contacts back to the default group
split a contact group into individual per-body contacts or a single contact into individual face pairs

Contact detection behavior in the Explore stage is determined by the Contact Detection setting from File > Settings > Physics. You can choose to prioritize speed, accuracy, or a balance of the two.

Note: Friction coefficient values are ignored in the Explore

stage, but separation is allowed.
