2.1.1. Ribbon Groups, Menus, and Icon Bars

The ribbon groups and the menus, Project, Edit, View (menu), Home (on the ribbon), Utility, and Help, located on the ribbon or the menu bar, provide access to a variety of commands. You can switch between ribbon and menus in the User Preferences. Table 2.1: Project Menu or Home Group through Table 2.5: Help Group or Menu present a brief description of each of the menu items and the corresponding icon from the Icon Bar that can also be used as an alternative way to access the option. Also included in these tables are the equivalent keystrokes that can be used as shortcuts to the pull-down menu or icon selection.

New...

Creates a new project. Prompts you for a project name.

Open...

Opens an existing project. Allows you to browse to the project file.

Ctrl-O

 

Import...

Allows importing into the current Ansys Chemkin User Interface of an input file from pre-Chemkin 4.0 releases for setting up a new project.

Ctrl-I

 

Clone

Clones the selected project.

Ctrl-Z

 

Close

Closes the selected project and associated project panels. Prompts you to save if the project has been changed.

Ctrl-W

 

Close All

Closes all open projects and associated project panels. If any of the projects have been changed, prompts you to save that project

Alt-W

 

Save

Saves the selected project. The project definition and user input are saved to a project file that can be accessed later by the Open command.

Ctrl-S

 

Save as...

Saves the selected project to a new file name or, alternatively, saves as an appended sub-project in another, existing project file. Prompts you to provide the new project name or browse to an existing project file.

 

 

Save All

Saves all open projects. For each project, the project definition and user input are saved to a project file.

Alt-S

 

Remove...

Removes the selected project.

Alt-D

 

Archive...

Assembles all associated files for the selected project and "zips" them into a single, compressed archive file for easy transfer. Prompts you for an archive file name.

Alt-N

 

Unarchive...

Extracts all the files from a zipped archive file (with extension ".ckzip" ) to create a new project. Prompts you for a directory in which to put the project file and all associated files.

Alt-O

 

Exit

Exits the User Interface. Prompts you to save any projects that have changed.

Preferences...

Opens the user-preferences panel, which allows users to customize their Working Environment, as well as units and file-extension defaults.

Ctrl-M

 

Profiles...

Opens the profile-editor panel. Prompts you to choose to create a new or edit an existing profile. Profiles are used to describe boundary conditions, initial conditions, or system constraints that vary as a function of time, distance or other variable.

Ctrl-R

 

File Editor...

Launches the File Editor, which may be the built-in (default) editor or a 3rd -party program, as designated in the user preferences panel.

CHEMKIN Visualizer...

Launches the graphical Ansys Chemkin Visualizer. When launched outside of the project file, only a previously created Visualizer file (.ckcsv) or a .csv file can be opened by the Visualizer. The Chemkin User Interface creates the .ckcsv file during the Analyze Results step.

Alt-P

 

View Java Memory...

Displays the amount of memory (RAM and virtual) used by the Java Virtual Machine running the User Interface. See Modifying the Memory Limits for the Chemkin Interface for controlling the memory limits.

 

 

View in Reaction Workbench...

Launches Ansys Chemkin Reaction Workbench. See the Chemkin Reaction Workbench User's Manual for more details.

Allows users to pre-process a chemistry set independent of any project.

Ctrl-B

Run Upgrade Solution Utility...

Upgrade the chemistry block for a previous Ansys Chemkin version XML solution data file, so that it can be post-processed with the Chemkin Visualizer.

Ctrl-U

Run Export Solution Utility...

Run the GetSolution utility that allows export of aAnsys Chemkin solution file into comma-delimited fields in a text file.

Ctrl-E

Run "Fitdat" Polynomial Equation Fitting Utility...

Run the FITDAT utility to convert a variety of formats of thermodynamic data into the polynomial fits required in Ansys Chemkin chemistry sets.

Ctrl-F

Clone Chemistry Set

Clone a chemistry set.

 

Archive Chemistry Set

Archive a chemistry set.

 

Unarchive Chemistry Set

Unarchive a chemistry set.
