Ansys Viewer (.avz) files are exported from Ansys CFX-Pre, CFD-Post, Fluent, Mechanical, and TurboGrid.
In CFX-Pre, CFD-Post, Fluent, and TurboGrid, you can create .avz files using the > option. For more information see the following:

In Mechanical, you can export your geometry, mesh, or a results object to an .avz files using the > option. For details see Data Export in the Mechanical User’s Guide.
When viewing an .avz file in Ansys Viewer, the object will look very similar to the way it looks in the application from which the .avz file was generated.
Note the following caveats:
- Solid and surface bodies are displayed, but line work is not. 
- Hidden bodies are included, but suppressed bodies are not.
