4.1. Applying Cyclic Constraints

In the Mechanical Application, cyclic constraints are applied when you specify Cyclic Region or Pre-Mesh Cyclic Region objects.

To apply cyclic constraints in Mechanical APDL, first ensure that the base and duplicate sectors have been prepared and component names created as described in Creating Stage Components and Multistage Cyclic Boundary Considerations. When the sectors for a stage are prepared, issue:

Repeat this command sequence for additional base/duplicate stage clones (see stage cloning) to cover any additional harmonic indices.

This will create cyclic constraints for a given stage and for the harmonic index specified on the MSOPT command. The main harmonic index to be studied should be chosen for each stage being combined.
