Configuring Wind and Road Noise

This procedure shows how to configure wind and road noise for a vehicle simulation.

When using ASDforEV on the desktop or in a driving simulator, this feature allows you to simulate a realistic in-vehicle sound environment by recreating the perceived wind and road noise that would be experienced by an occupant while the vehicle is moving.
  1. Go to the Wind & Road tab.
  2. Activate the wind & road noise by clicking the activation button .
  3. You will see that the ExampleSedan.noise file is loaded by default.
  4. If required, click to select an alternative .noise file and then click Open.
Note: The .noise file, containing the evolution of the 1/3-ocatve-band levels of the noise over a predefined speed profile, must be prepared and exported using the Ansys Sound: Analysis and Specification application.
  5. If needed, you can:
    1. remove the existing .noise file by clicking ,
    2. adjust the gain for the noise signal using the and buttons, moving the silder or by entering a value directly,
    3. monitor the wind and road noise level by examining the VU meter,
    4. deactivate the sound by clicking the button.
Note: The wind and road noise is played at the same level through all available audio channels. There is no spatialization available for this sound-type.
The wind and road noise is configured.
You can experience the wind and road noise along with the SAF and AVAS sound functions in a driving environment.
