Defining the Random Search Optimization

Prerequisites: You must have selected the Random search mode in the Optimization feature.
  1. In the Merit function drop-down list, define how you want the optimization to converge:

    • Select Minimize to get the simulation measurement as close as possible to the target value.
    • Select Maximize to get the simulation measurement as far as possible from the target value.
  2. Define if you want to Keep intermediate results. That means the result of each iteration will be saved into the SPEOS output files folder.
  3. In the Stop Conditions section, define how to stop the optimization:

    • If you want the optimization to stop after a certain time spent, set Use maximum time to True and define the Maximum time in seconds.

Important: In case the time is over and the last simulation run has not yet finished, the optimization process finishes the simulation before stopping.

    • If you want the optimization to stop after a certain number of simulations run, set Use maximum number of simulations to True and define the Maximum number of simulations.
    • You can set both stop conditions to True. In this case, the first stop condition to be reached will end the optimization.
Now you can add and define the different Simulation, Design, Document variables and Targets.
