Using materials assigned by a CAD designer

When you import a part geometry from NX to HyperMesh as a JT file, any materials assigned from Granta MI by the CAD designer will be grayed-out. This indicates that the part geometry contains a reference to a material that is not currently in HyperMesh.

To bring the data required for simulation into HyperMesh, you need to re-assign the materials.

If your Granta MI system provides a choice of CAE material model types, you can specify the model type when you re-assign the material.
Tip: Alternatively, if your Granta MI system is configured to use simulation records, you can choose a simulation record to use for the material data. See Simulation records.
To update the materials with data for simulation:
Right-click each material assignment individually to choose and assign a material model (or choose a simulation record, if these are in use on your system).
OptionDescription
To choose a material model
Choose CAE material models, then double-click to assign a material model for the CAD material.
Tip: Alternatively, choose Assign to selection to assign the default model.
To choose a simulation record and model
Choose View related Simulation Records, then double-click to assign a simulation record, and choose a material model if prompted.
Note: This option is available if your system is configured to use simulation records.
See Assigning a material in HyperMesh.
Note: Alternatively, you can assign default simulation data to all components in a single step. See Assigning default simulation data to all components.
