Assigning materials in CAE applications

In HyperMesh, you can use MI Materials Gateway to assign materials directly to components in your part geometry. The material assignment contains the data required for simulation, and includes a consistent, traceable link back to the source data in your Granta MI system.

• Find materials to assign in the upper half of the Gateway window. You can search or browse your Granta MI database, or use a material from your favorites.
  Tip: If your Granta MI system has been configured to store specialized data for a material as separate simulation records, you can right-click a material to find its simulation records.
• View and manage the Granta MI data assigned to your part geometry in the lower half of the Gateway window (the assignments panel).

Materials are assigned as material models, with the properties and data specified in the model definition. You might be prompted to choose a model type (if there is more than one available), or enter values for parameters (if required).
