Simulation records

Data for simulation can be stored in a 'hub-and-spoke' structure, where basic CAD data for a material (such as Density) is stored as a CAD material record, and more specialized data for different types of CAE analysis is stored as simulation records linked to the CAD material.

If your Granta MI system has been configured to use simulation records, you can browse, search, and assign or import them in the same way as any material record.

  • To see the simulation records for a CAD material, right-click it and choose View related Simulation Records.
  • To see the CAD materials for a simulation record, right-click it and choose View related CAD materials
In MI Materials Gateways for CAE applications, simulation records are assigned or imported using a model definition (see Material models). You might be prompted to choose a model type (if there is more than one available), or specify parameters required by the model.
