After you have shared a project in the desktop client and used the Portal to assign collaborators, everyone assigned to the project can view or edit it in the desktop client.
To prevent users from simultaneously modifying the same project, you can lock projects for exclusive editing. In addition, when another user has a project locked for editing, you can request access to the project.
When you open the project in the desktop client and if no one is working on it, medini automatically locks the project for your exclusive use.
If the project is already opened and no one is working on it, you can select it in the Model Browser, and right-click and choose .
In both cases, an "Exclusive Editing" decorator appears next to the project name.
Select the project, right-click and choose .
After five minutes of non-activity in medini, a 30-second countdown begins. The countdown timer appears above the Editor window. When the timer runs out, the lock disappears and another user can edit the project.
To stop the timer (and continue the exclusive lock), click Cancel in the timer.
The "Exclusive Editing" decorator disappears from next to the project name.
For more information, see Requesting Project Access.
When you open a project and someone is already working on it, you do not have access. A decorator with the user's username appears next to the project name in your Model Browser. Another decorator lists the number of "active users" who have opened the project.
To request access, right-click the opened project and select .
A message appears in the lower-right area of your medini analyze window, noting that you requested the lock.
To cancel your request, click Cancel, or right-click the opened project and select Cancel Exclusive Editing.
A message that you requested the lock also appears in the window of the user who has the exclusive editing lock.
The user with the lock can dismiss the message. If the user with the lock is not active in medini analyze for five minutes, the 30-second countdown begins. When the timer runs out, the first person to have requested the lock gets it.
Or, the user with the lock can click Unlock. If multiple users request access at the same time, the user with the lock selects which user he clicks Unlock for.
