A job definition is a logical description of the simulation process, specifically its individual tasks and their dependencies. It details how outputs from one task become inputs to another task, and how parameters, if any, are substituted. It also details each task's software and hardware requirements, and execution parameters. Every job created in Ansys HPC Job Manager has a job definition associated with it.
Job definitions are automatically generated when you create projects in Ansys HPC Job Manager. Recall that a project is based on a task definition template, which defines a solver job. Additional job definitions may also be generated when you create new jobs within a project and opt to create a copy of the selected job definition. A project can have multiple have job definitions that are active at any one time.
You can edit a job definition by adding tasks or modifying its parameters. You can also create new job definitions if needed.
