Force parameters such as spring and damping coefficients and connecting properties such as the acting and reacting bodies, and the locations and the orientation on the bodies are defined in the Matrix property dialog as shown in the figure and table below.
Figure 6.28: Description of parameters in the Matrix property dialog
Parameter | Symbol | Description |
Dimension (Range) |
1. Type | N/A | Use to select a type for calculation of Matrix force. When User Subroutine. For more information about user subroutines, refer to Matrix Force User Subroutine. | is selected, the force is calculated from the specified matrices. When is selected, the six forces must be returned by the specifiedN/A |
2. Matrix of Stiffness Coefficient | Use to set a 6 by 6 stiffness matrix. |
Refer to Figure 4.14: Matrix parameters (Real)
Viscous Damping Coefficient
3. Ratio |
Use to select a method to determine the damping force. When Ratio is selected, the proportional damping ratio can be defined with constant values or a predefined Design Variable. The resultant 6-by-6 damping matrix is calculated from the stiffness matrix as follows.
When Matrix Force. is selected, the damping coefficient matrix can be defined directly in 6-by-6 format. For more information about these parameters, refer to |

3. Matrix |
Refer to Figure 4.14: Matrix parameters (Real)
4. Pre Load and Torque | , | Use to set actuating forces and torques with constant values. For more information about these parameters, refer to Matrix Force. |
Force, Force*Length (Real) |
5. Synchronize with Geometry | N/A | Use to synchronize Reference Length and Angle with an initial relative displacement and angle between the two markers. If this option is not selected, the Reference Length and Angle input will be enabled. | N/A |
6. Reference Length and Angle | , | Use to set the free length and angle with a constant value. For more information about this parameter, refer to Matrix Force. |
Length, Radian (Real) |
7. Control buttons | N/A | If all necessary parameters are set, these buttons are enabled. For more information about the control buttons, refer to Entity Properties Access and Modification. | N/A |
For more information about connectors, refer to Constraint Entity Connectors.
