7.4. Flex to Rigid 3D Contact (FTR3D Contact)

Flex to Rigid 3D (FTR3D) Contact represents contact forces at the contact points between a nodal flexible body and a rigid body. FTR3D Contact supports spring, damping and friction forces. Contact surfaces of a Patchset, Faceset or Edgeset on two contacted bodies must be specified to create the contact. FTR3D Contact calculates its force based on the penetration and relative velocities between the action surface and base surface. The action force is applied to the action contact point and an equal and opposite reaction force is applied at the same position on the base body. FTR3D Contact is only available for contact between a nodal flexible body and a rigid body. FTR3D Contact can not be selected and created from the Contact ribbon menu, and can only be selected from the properties for Auto Contact, M by N Contact and N Combination Contact.
