Test Case

A 2-D plate with length L is subjected to uniform tension loading. An inclined crack of length 2a is modeled with an angle of between the crack surface and loading direction. Stress intensity factor is calculated and compared against analytical value.

L = 0.3 m

Analysis Assumptions and Modeling Notes

The problem is solved using 2-D elements with plain strain element behavior. The plate is constrained along the X-direction at X = 0 and along the Y-direction at Y = 0. Stress intensity factors K1 and K2 are computed using a Pre-Meshed Crack object and compared against the analytical value.
