During a CFD simulation, the capacity fade can also be considered for either the NTGK/DCIR or ECM battery model. Ansys Fluent uses an empirical model, in which you can specify different capacity fade factors under different operating conditions (temperature and C-rate). The specified capacity factors are then used in the calculation of the battery state of charge as follows:
