19.9.1. Empirical Battery Life Model

Battery capacity loss occurs if the battery is in active use when it undergoes repeated discharging and charging cycles. Such loss is called cycle life loss. However, even if the battery is not in use, its capacity may fade due to a long-time storage. Such loss is called calendar life loss.

In Ansys Fluent, an Arrhenius type equation is used to compute calendar life loss, and a two-dimensional lookup is used for the cycle life loss:
