2.11. Working with Ansys Licensing

FENSAP-ICE can be used in Workbench only if an Ansys FENSAP-ICE license is available on the license server. An Ansys FENSAP-ICE license enables the following:

  • A single task for

    • Ansys FENSAP-ICE solvers: executable(s) used by FENSAP-ICE (FENSAP, DROP3D and/or ICE3D) to perform the calculations.

    • Ansys Meshing

    • Ansys CFD-Post

  • Additional tasks for

    • The FENSAP-ICE Graphical User Interface, used to configure FENSAP-ICE calculations and monitor solutions.

    • Viewmerical: the built-in post-processing graphical window used to analyze FENSAP-ICE solutions.

Ansys HPC licenses are required for solver jobs using more than 1 CPU core.

For more information, see the following section:

Shared Licensing Mode

2.11.1. Shared Licensing Mode

The shared license component of Ansys FENSAP-ICE permits to use a single concurrent instance of:

  • Ansys FENSAP-ICE solver (FENSAP, DROP3D or ICE3D).

    or

  • Ansys Meshing

    or

  • Ansys CFD-Post

The following applications can be opened at the same time, while the above sessions are running:

  • FENSAP-ICE

  • Viewmerical

Additional instances of Ansys CFD-Post, Ansys Meshing, FENSAP-ICE and Viewmerical can be opened if Pre-Post licenses are also available.

If you open an application, it will first check to see if it can use a license that is already checked out. If it can, and that license is available, it will use that license. If the license is not available because it is being used by another application, you will be informed that the required license is not available. You will not be able to use the new application until that license becomes available. If there is not a license checked out that is compatible with the new application, the new application will check out an additional license.
