Test Case

Fully developed turbulent flow is modeled in an axisymmetric diffuser. The flow is fully developed at the inlet to the diffuser.

Figure 144: Flow Domain

Flow Domain

Material PropertiesGeometry Boundary Conditions

Density = 1 kg/m3

Viscosity = 1.64 X 10-5 kg/m-s

Included angle for the divergent section = 80

Length of Inlet section (straight) = 6 m

Inlet radius = 1 m

Outlet radius = 2 m

Fully developed turbulent profile at inlet with an average velocity = 1 m/s

Analysis Assumptions and Modeling Notes

Steady turbulent flow.
