Adding a Fan

To add a two-dimensional fan condition to a face or a group of faces that represent a single fan location:

  1. Click the Fluid Flow dropdown menu in the ribbon of the Simulation tab and choose Fan.
  2. Select a face or a group of faces that represent a single fan location and specify as an intake fan or an exhaust fan.
If your model contains named selections, click Advanced filters and use Link named selections to choose one from the list.
  3. Define the pressure rise due to the fan.
In the HUD's options panel, three methods are available:
    • Load a pre-defined fan curve or specify the fan curve table in terms of Volume flow rate versus pressure rise (static pressure).
    • Specify the fan curve table in terms of Velocity versus pressure rise (static pressure).
    • Specify a Constant pressure rise across the fan. For an intake fan the constant pressure rise is the total pressure and for an exhaust fan it is the static pressure.
  4. Enter the Gauge pressure, upstream of an intake fan (total pressure) or downstream of an exhaust fan (static pressure).
  5. Click Accept .
