Creating an External Flow Volume

  1. Prior to setting up your flow volumes, you can specify solid bodies as cutter bodies to automatically block the fluid flow without having to extract the overlapping bodies from the fluid. This enables you to quickly experiment with the positions of solid objects within the flow path.

To set a solid body as a cutter body, right-click the body in the geometry or model tree and select Cutter Body from the context menu.

For overlapping bodies, right-click the body in the geometry or model tree and select:

    • Overlapping Bodies > Set as Cutter Bodies to set the body as a cutter body
    • Overlapping Bodies > Exclude from Simulation to exclude the body from the simulation entirely
    • Overlapping Bodies > Identify to launch the Interference tool, which detects and removes interference from clashing bodies
  2. Click the Inlet direction tool then select the green arrow that indicates where the flow enters.
  3. Click the Ground plane tool then select the enclosure face that acts as the ground.
The enclosure volume is automatically created and values for the flow inlet and outlet conditions can be found in the physics tree. Friction will be included on the ground and model surfaces. No friction will be included for the remaining enclosure surfaces.
