As shown in the following figures, the turbine blade has 10 cooling passages. It is assumed that the external surface is fixed at a constant temperature. The adiabatic surfaces are assumed to be fixed for the stress analysis. The fluid flows through the holes at different rates and cooling occurs primarily via convection. The convection coefficients, inflow temperatures, and mass flow rates are all specified. If the film coefficients are high, the solid loses more heat to the fluid and, accordingly, the fluid temperature rise is higher. If the fluid mass flow rate is higher, the fluid temperature rise is not as high.
