When performing a similar analysis using the cycle-jump method, consider the following:
To minimize the solution time, mesh the linear elastic parts as coarsely as possible while using a finer mesh for the critical components.
Use a smaller jump criterion to accommodate the desired accuracy of the cycle-jump solution.
Important: The damage model parameters for this example problem were chosen to illustrate the damage evolution of the solder joint, and to demonstrate that cycle jump works with the generalized damage model and accelerates the analysis. Although the model geometry is similar (but not identical) to that of the reference model, the results are not in agreement with the reference results, as the material and damage models differ.
