Chapter 42: Wire Crimping Modeled with General Contact

This example problem demonstrates the ease of contact modeling via the general contact method. The method offers automated contact creation and requires minimal input. It is especially useful when a large number of contacting surfaces are involved in the model and the geometry makes it difficult to determine contact pairs.

The following features and capabilities are highlighted:

  • Automatic generation of general contact elements

  • Contact-property definitions

  • Rigid-flexible and flexible-flexible contact modeled by general contact, including surface-to-surface and edge-to-surface contact configurations
