2.1. Commands Used in Multistage Cyclic Symmetry Analysis

The following tables list the key commands used in the pre and postprocessing phases of a multistage analysis. The MSOPT command is used throughout the analysis to specify, store, and modify stage information for future action commands. Additionally, MSOPT,LIST can be used at any time during the analysis procedure to list the stages information.

See specific command entries in the Command Reference for comprehensive descriptions of the commands and their arguments.

Preprocessor (/PREP7) or Solution (/SOLU) commands

MSOPT

This command is used to create stages as well as store and modify stage information. In particular, it provides relevant cyclic and multistage information to CECYCMS. MSOPT,NEW and MSOPT,CSYS are only valid in the /PREP7 processor.

CECYCMS

This command applies cyclic symmetry constraint equations to a given sector. MSOPT can specify the arguments for CECYCMS so that CECYCMS can be issued without arguments.

CEIMS

This command applies interstage constraint equations between two stages.

Postprocessor (/POST1) commands

MSOPT

MSOPT,EXPAND is used to specify multistage expansion parameters and provides relevant cyclic and multistage information to SET commands.

SET

In a multistage analysis, a SET command issued after issuing MSOPT,EXPAND reads the set from the specified .rst file, reads the multistage expansion specifications, and then expands the nodes and elements of the specified stages and sectors.

Note:  New nodes and elements are created when you issue the SET command after issuing MSOPT,EXPAND in a multistage cyclic symmetry analysis.
