Various effects are available in Sound: Analysis and Specification to modify, enhance or emphasize sounds and sound parts.


Required signals	Effect	How the effect works
Temporal signal	Silence	Applying a silence.
Temporal signal	Fade-in	Applying an upward fade to the selection, which means an exponential amplitude increase. This exponential amplitude increase is perceived by human ear to be more regular than a linear increase.
Temporal signal	Fade-out	Applying a downward fade to the selection, which means an exponential amplitude reduction. This exponential amplitude reduction is perceived by human ear to be more regular than a linear reduction.
Temporal signal Time frequency signal	Amplifying	Increasing the gain in dB in a signal.
Temporal signal Time frequency signal	Deamplifying	Decreasing the gain in dB in a signal.
