Defining the Design of Experiment

Prerequisites: You must have selected the Design of experiment mode in the Optimization feature.
  1. In the Variables panel, add the variable you want to vary.
    To add variables according to their type, refer to Adding and Defining Simulation Variables, Design Variables and Document Variables.
  2. Once variables are defined, in the Excel file path drop-down list, click Create Excel.
    Important: You must add the variables first in the Variables panel. Otherwise the Excel file will not generate the table of the variable values.
  3. Save the Excel file in the SPEOS input files folder.
    The Excel file automatically opens.
  4. In the Excel file, the first column corresponds to the iterations to run and their order, and all following columns correspond to the each variable you added:
    1. In the Iteration number column, insert a line for each iteration to run and number them.
    2. In the following variable columns, define for each iteration the value of the variables.
    Note: The Min value and Max value of the variables in the Variables panel do not need to be set as the optimization process will take the values defined in the Excel file.
  5. Save and close the Excel file.
As you already defined all variables, you can now directly run the optimization.
