Activating the Texture Mapping Preview

The following page helps you activate the texture mapping preview. This way the previewed texture mapping will permanently be displayed in the 3D view unless you deactivate it.

Note: Do not confuse the permanent preview with the preview displayed when you are in the UV map definition or in the Surface Layer definition which is displayed only until you exit the definition.

To activate a texture mapping preview:

Prerequisites: You must have set Use Texture to True on a material.
  1. In the Speos tree, select a Surface Layer.

The Surface Layer must be selected, otherwise you cannot activate the texture mapping preview.
  2. Right-click the Surface Layer and select the texture to preview:

    • None: deactivates the Texture Mapping Preview.

Note: The preview never deactivates itself, you need to see it to none if you no longer want to the preview to be displayed.
    • Texture

When Texture is activated, the Surface Layer is flagged with a black dot in the tree.

    • Normal map

When Normal map is activated, the Surface Layer is flagged with a purple dot in the tree.

Note: If a textured material has several surface layers, you can only preview one surface layer at a time.
Note: If no texture or material is defined, a default rendering is displayed for the texture or the normal map to help you set the UV map.
Note: If you have not deactivated a preview and you saved the project, the preview is displayed at the next opening of the project.
The preview of the surface layer textures are now permanently activated until you deactivate them.
