Configuring offline help

By default, MI Viewer help is hosted online, ensuring that users have the latest content. In environments where users are unable to access Ansys online help (for example, air-gapped environments), you can host the help locally and configure MI Viewer to access it.

Note: You can also configure this setting in the MI Viewer Configuration tool.
Prerequisites:

Download the Granta MI Enterprise installable help package from the Ansys Customer Portal Product Documentation downloads page.

Configure MI Viewer to access your local help:
  1. Create a folder under your web server's physical path where the help files will be stored, for example: %SystemDrive%\inetpub\wwwroot\help.
  2. Extract the installable help package and copy the media and html folders to the folder you have created.
  3. In MI Viewer, click Admin in the toolbar and scroll down the General page to the Help Preferences section.
  4. Select Use this local help, and enter the URL of the html folder.
    For example: https://myserver.com/help/html/.
Note: Only enter the URL path up to the html directory. MI Viewer will provide the rest of the path.
  5. Save your changes.

To ensure that users have access to up-to-date information on Granta MI features, you will need to download and install the latest version of the help after upgrading to a new Granta MI release. Your existing MI Viewer help configuration settings will be preserved through an upgrade, so you won’t need to reconfigure the help preference option when you upgrade your MI Viewer software.
