Importing materials into Ansys Electronics Desktop

Use MI Materials Gateway to import materials from your Granta MI database to Ansys Electronics Desktop for use in simulation. You can import materials to the currently active Ansys Electronics Desktop project's local material library.

To find materials to import, you can search or browse your Granta MI database, or use a material from your favorites.

Tip: You can also import materials from a Bill of Materials (BoM) file. See Importing CAD assignments from a file.
  1. Select the materials that you want to import, then double-click to import the material cards.
  2. Optional: If there is more than one type of material model available, double-click the model you want to use.
  3. Optional: If prompted, enter values for any parameters required by the model.
  4. When you are happy with the list of materials for import, click Import.

The materials are imported to your project's local material library in Ansys Electronics Desktop.

Tip: You need to close MI Materials Gateway to view the imported materials in Ansys Electronics Desktop. If you don't see the imported materials that you expect, try refreshing the list of materials (for example, by closing and reopening the Edit Libraries window).
You can use the Imported material cards panel to view and manage all Granta MI materials that have been imported to your project.
