Importing CAD assignments from a file

If your CAD designer has provided a Bill of Materials (BoM) file, you can use MI Materials Gateway to view a list of the materials specified in the file, and import them to your current project in Ansys Electronics Desktop.

  1. In the Imported material cards title bar, click Import from file .
  2. Navigate to the Bill of Materials file and select it.
  3. In the list of CAD material assignments, select the materials you want to import, and double-click to import them.
  4. Optional: If there is more than one type of material model available, double-click the model you want to use.
  5. Optional: If prompted, enter values for any parameters required by the model.
  6. When you are happy with the list of materials for import, click Import.

The materials are imported to your project's local material library in Ansys Electronics Desktop.

Tip: You need to close MI Materials Gateway to view the imported materials in Ansys Electronics Desktop. If you don't see the imported materials that you expect, try refreshing the list of materials (for example, by closing and reopening the Edit Libraries window).
You can use the Imported material cards panel to view and manage all Granta MI materials that have been imported to your project.
