Releasing a record

Follow these steps to release a version-controlled record.

Prerequisites: You need an MI role of Power User or higher to release records.
  1. Ensure that the Explore application is in Edit Mode.
  2. Open the record datasheet.
  3. Click Release in the datasheet header.
  4. Optionally, enter some notes about the change you are making.
  5. Click Release.
  • The record version state changes from Unreleased to Released.
  • The record version number does not change.
  • The version state of the previous Released version (if it exists) is changed to Superseded.
  • All of the record's parent records will also be released.

New releases of version-controlled records will not be visible to MI Materials Gateway users immediately.

  • Gateway users will need to update the MI Materials Gateway data cache on their local machine to ensure that they can search, assign, or import the latest version of the record.
  • CAD, CAE, and PLM users will need to update their existing data assignments or material card imports to see any data changes in their host application.

You must communicate any updates to version-controlled records to Gateway users who may be affected, to ensure that they have the latest data available.
