Multiple component systems

You can work with multiple Granta MI component systems, both within a session, and across sessions.

Working with multiple Granta MI component systems

Within a single session of Ansys Workbench, you can have more than one Granta MI component system present on the workbench, but only one MI Materials Gateway window can be displayed at any time. Editing or double-clicking on a component system's MI Materials Gateway component switches the connection of the MI Materials Gateway window to that system. The title of the MI Materials Gateway window reflects the coordinate and name of the component system that it is currently connected to.

Note: Ansys Workbench allows you to share an Engineering Data component between two Granta MI component systems. However, this will delete and overwrite all previously-imported materials in the downstream Granta MI component system.

Using MI Materials Gateway across multiple Ansys Workbench sessions

You can also use MI Materials Gateway with two or more sessions of Ansys Workbench concurrently. Each Ansys Workbench session has its own independent Granta MI component system, with its own MI Materials Gateway window.

Note: Your saved favorites can be accessed from all MI Materials Gateway sessions in Ansys Workbench.
