Layout Editor Options: Other Panel
The following options are set in the Other area under Layout Editor in the Tools > Options > General Options window. These options control dragging, the Merge layers window, and rotation. Not all these options appear in the local Layout options.
Changes to global options only affect new layout designs (i.e., navigating to Tools > Options > General Options to open the global Options window, and choosing on the options in the Layout Editor tab) . To configure options for existing designs, navigate to the Design Options window (i.e., from Layout, select Settings). Then choose options on the associated tabs, and click OK to save changes. All changes made in the Design Options window affect only the active design).
- Allow drag on first click — when selected, holding down the mouse button on an object selects and attaches the object to the cursor. Drag the object to the chosen location and release the mouse button. When unselected, first click to select the object, then click and hold down the mouse button to drag the object. Unselected is the default.
- Show pin connectivity window on drag to matching component — when selected, the Pin Connectivity window appears during a drag to a matching component.
- Create ports when placing new component — when selected, newly placed HFSS 3D Layout sub-designs, 3D Components, and HFSS dynamic links has ports. This is similar to adding ports on an existing component.
- Always Show Layer Merging Window — when selected, the Merge Layers window appears every time an object with layers is placed in the layout (or in a schematic). When unselected, the Merge Layers window appears only when automatic layer mapping cannot be performed. See the Merge Layers window. Unselected is the default.
- Show select technology window on new design — when inserting a new HFSS 3D Layout or Circuit Design, users are prompted to Choose Technology. This option suppresses the display of the Choose Technology window upon the insertion of a new design. For more information see Inserting an HFSS 3D Layout.
- Specify default technology — allows users to select a default technology on the pull down menu.
- Naming Convention — allows users to control the generation of port and pin group names when using the interactive commands.
- Rotation increment — during rotation using handles (View > Rotate), objects are rotated by multiples of this amount. The default rotation amount is 5 degrees. 2D rotations using Draw > Rotate always rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise.
