During safety analysis and design it may be required to develop and analyze multiple alternative versions of a System/Function Model. The tool supports you in creating quickly a clone of a SysML model, e.g. to analyze variants of the same model. To create a copy for a variant you can do the following:
Select a SysML model in the Model Browser and open the context menu
Choose "Derive -> Variant"
Select the target folder and a name of the copied model to be created
Optionally you can copy all traces to the original model by checking the "Preserve traces" option
Traces between the elements of the variant and the elements of the original model are created automatically. These can be used to navigate back to the original model. You are now free to modify the new variant model according to your needs.
