Modify and Import Materials from a Library

If you opened the Mechanical application independently, use the Import Materials option to import updated material properties and definitions from a library file. For more information on how to use this option, see Import Material Library from a File.

Modify Materials in the Engineering Data Workspace

If you opened the Mechanical application from the Workbench application, use the Engineering Data workspace to modify the materials in your model.

  1. Access the Engineering Data workspace.

  2. Follow the directions in Material Data in the Engineering Data User's Guide to modify material properties, add new materials, and so forth.

  3. Load the updated Engineering Data materials into the Mechanical application. Do one of the following:

    • In the Workbench Project window, right-click the Engineering Data module and select Update Upstream Components from the menu.

    • In the Mechanical application, use the Refresh Materials option to update the materials in your model from the Engineering Data workspace.
