Cold temperature and pressure maps in cyclic symmetry FEA calculations represent the deformations or stresses in a system at operating conditions, accounting for the impact of thermal and mechanical loads. When a CFD department provides the 'hot' geometry, it reflects the shape of the machine at its operational, thermally-expanded state. However, using this geometry directly in FEA under loading conditions leads to inaccuracies because the machine behaves differently due to its initial thermal deformation. For axial compressors, even minor changes in leading or trailing edge angles significantly affect the flow dynamics, making it essential to derive the 'cold' geometry (the pre-deformation shape) to ensure accurate performance and structural analysis.
